Edna Sexton, a Buckingham Bingo winner of ₤50 000 is currently being sued by both of her sisters to try to settle a dispute over her bingo win. The fifty-nine year old woman won the National bingo prize in Liverpool in 2007, her sisters Doreen Thomas and Linda Kenny claim that a verbal agreement was in place from 2005 to share any bingo wins three ways, and this was not honoured. They are each suing Edna for ₤16 666 plus interest.

Edna told the Chester Crown Court that an additional agreement was in place from 2006 where they had said that any bingo winnings of more than ₤1 000 would not be split. Mrs. Kenny disputes this and says that on the night of the win, Edna was late for the game and she actually purchased her ticket for her. She was let into the queue in front of her sister Doreen and the winning ticket should really have been Dorreen’s.

All three sisters were very excited when they found out about the huge win and were talking about using the money to go on holiday and apparently only later Mrs. Sexton changed her mind regarding the sharing of the prize. She also apparently told them that she would give them ₤10 000 as they were her sisters and she considered it to be a gift. The court case is continuing!

After many years of playing bingo and trying to win a big prize, this Wakefield woman has done just that. She was playing the Afternoon Delight game at the Mecca Bingo Club in the Westgate Retail Park, Wakefield, with her husband, when good fortune decided to smile down upon her. She won the National prize of £9,280 the Regional prize of £1,160 and the house prize of £35 which means she went home richer by £10,475. Its nice to be lucky isn’t it?

The woman, who has four children and four grandchildren has been a member of the same Mecca Bingo Club for ten years and plays as often as three times per week but has never won anything approximating this amount, her husband was absolutely amazed by her good fortune, he also plays with her at the Mecca club as do other members of her family.

She said that she is going to save some of the money but that she did want to treat her children, so she would buy them some new clothes and use part of the windfall to finance her holiday this year, in the form of spending money. She also had to add that the win had made her extremely happy, especially when she found out just how much she had won.

Who says that men don’t play bingo? This is simply not true, the amount of male winners that have been cropping up both in the land based game and online goes to show that the demographic is not only women.

The latest male winner is a sixty-five year old gent from Leicester, who was playing at the Gala Bingo Club in Beaumont Leys, he won £35,215 in the National Bingo Afternoon Delight game, plus the Regional prize of £2,000. As well as playing bingo with his wife about three afternoons a week, the retired gentleman who was born and bred in Leicester, say that he also enjoys fishing and gardening.

He has been a member of the Gala Bingo since its inception and has been playing the game for fourteen years, he completed a full house in 39 numbers and says that he was truly shocked when he learned just how much money he had won as he thought that he had only won the house prize of £100.

Although the idea of his big win hasn’t quite sunk in properly yet he is planning to buy a new car and take his wife on a lovely relaxing holiday.

After the Afternoon Delight National Bingo Game held on Saturday at the Gala Bingo Club in Halifax Road, Sheffield, a luck fifty-nine year old woman took home a grand prize for £45,000 after calling full house in forty-two numbers.

The lucky winner who works as a nurse manager, was completely in shock when she realised just how much money she had won. This is nothing new, it seems that it is true what they say about bingo players they actually play for the fun and not the money, so that when they do win, instead of being complacent about their winnings they go into absolute shock..

The woman, who has been playing bingo at the Gala since 1998 is a mother of two and Grandmother to four, was playing bingo with her mother on the afternoon of the win and says that the surprise she received on being told about her win; still hasn’t really sunk in. But she plans to use some of the money to take herself on a cruise.

Perhaps she should join the I Bingo cruise to the Caribbean, she never knows, if her luck holds out, she might just win on board and recoup the money that she paid to go on the bingo cruise in the first place!

A female pensioner who wishes to remain anonymous was one of the luckiest winners during the Mecca Bingo, countrywide, £1 million giveaway in free bingo games. The Norwich Pensioner has been given the opportunity to completely change her life with the £150,000 bingo win.

The woman, who turns seventy in February, is a regular bingo player at the All Saints Green Mecca Bingo Club in Norwich, where the massive bingo win took place. She said that she plays sometimes up to six times per week, and this time she was playing with her daughter who is an occasional player. She will be sharing the prize money with her daughter in the true spirit of generosity that bingo players more often than not seem to display.

All Mecca Bingo clubs took part in the Mecca Millionaire bonanza, and they were offering two free bingo daily games each. Mecca Bingo players were given the chance to win £100,000 with one line, £150,000 with two lines and a whopping £264,288.50 for a full house.

Mecca Bingo, despite its struggle to keep its head above water due to discriminatory taxes and the smoking ban, have managed to make three new millionaires in the past four months. This is thanks to new laws that allow bingo operators to retain a share of the members stake in order to accumulate large jackpots for the winning pool.

The BJ’s Bingo club in Chelsmley Wood, Birmingham, has just celebrated the success of its first National Bingo winner. The club management is absolutely delighted as they only opened their doors for business a very short four months ago.

The deputy manager of the club on Mackadown Road in Kitts Green, Nick Ralph, told the National Bingo that they had a really big crowd in on the night of the big win, eight hundred people! When they announced the winner, who is a very regular player at the club, and how much she had won, the entire club was cheering and clapping so hard that they nearly raised the roof.

The seventy four year old Brummie who is a pensioner won a huge ₤40,000 and little did she know that when she went to play bingo on Saturday, that she was going to come home with a bit of extra pocket money for Christmas.

The bingo club management is certain that this lucky lady is going to be the first of many more winners as they are convinced that the new club is going to be one of the really lucky ones.

It is a delightful moment for me when a pensioner wins big at bingo. It is just the thing that is needed to boost morale and supplement those thinly stretched pension money’s.

There have been quite a few big winners since the change in the gambling laws became effective in September. The new laws allowing for the roll-over of stakes have allowed many bingo establishments to offer large jackpots.

One of the latest winners is a seventy-six year old man from Eye who picked up a ₤40,000 jackpot on December 3rd. The man won the money in while playing at the Norwich Mecca Bingo Club. He plans to use the money to buy a new car. He won the ₤40,000 jackpot, along with the ₤54 house prize, by scoring bingo in forty-two calls.

Wins of this magnitude and larger are becoming rather common because of the change in the regulations. Even while the new regulations allow for larger jackpots, there is a big drop in attendance figures due to the smoking ban. The larger prizes are not enough to compensate for not being able to smoke while you play bingo, as the drop in the attendance figures shows.

Many people have decided to forego their brick and mortar bingo playing for online bingo playing. Apparently the lure of the big jackpots is not enough to overcome the desire to smoke while playing.
