What a wonderful idea, the Bolton Council could be in the process of setting up Mobile Clinics in a Bingo car park. Care UK Plc has come up with this innovative way of providing mobile health services to elderly patients; they are just waiting to see if the local council approves these plans. One thing is for certain, bingo clubs are always looking at ways to increase numbers and provide added value to their members, so they won’t object.

The bingo hall in question is the Mecca Club in Breightmet Fold Lane, Breightmet. If the plans for this go ahead, virtually hundreds of patients will have access to a variety of different treatment. The mobile clinic will be set up in a trailer, from February 2009 and services are to include gynaecology, general surgery, ENT and urology. Just think you can go and have you pap smear then go straight to a game of bingo to cheer yourself up, how fantastic is that?

Apparently they will also be carrying out MRI’s CT scans and X-Rays, the bingo car park will house five trailers and a generator trailer. It will have eighteen staff members on hand and a further three trailers may even be added for endoscopy services. Patients will be referred to the “Polyclinic” by their GP’s, it will be open from 7:45 am to 8:30 pm. This great idea has been dreamed up to reduce appointment waiting times as well as limit the distance that many people have to travel to receive treatment.
