• The first recording of the game was made way back at around 1530 in Italy, although there are indications which suggest that it was enjoyed in ancient times by Roman soldiers when they wasn’t at war.
• When formed in Italy it was known as “Lo Giucco del lotto”. And to this day it is still known as that and is played on a weekly basis!
• The game got more popular and quickly spread across Europe all the way to France in the late 1700’s.

• In Germany they created a method using Bingo to teach students math, English and history.
• The biggest bingo event to date took place in New York, according to him up to 60,000 eager players turned up, and that he had to turn away 10,000!
• Before the name “bingo” the game was known as “Beano”, players would daub their numbers by placing a bean on top, players would claim a win by shouting out “beano”.
• It was only in 1929 when “Bingo” first came about. A player yelled “bingo” instead of “beano” in America when claiming a win.
• British Military inherited it to pass the time whilst out at sea. It was known then as “housy housy”
