The Caribbean Island of Antigua, is not only a magnificent holiday destination, it is also a haven for online operators who offer online bingo products to UK residents.
The reason why the island is such a popular place for these operators is because the UK tax laws are so stringent that many bingo operators find it virtually impossible to actually house offices in the UK, they therefore turn to offshore offices in an attempt to compensate for this loss.
While it may seem strange, the UK Gaming Authorities have to white list the various countries that provide online bingo operations to the UK! This is because the gaming laws of the country in question have to fall somewhat in line with the Gaming laws of the UK.
White listed companies may still provide online bingo operations to the UK, however, they may not advertise in the UK and without the necessary marketing drives in place, they cannot promote their business, and unfortunately Antigua didn’t quite make it onto the White List this year.
Antigua has made its disappointment known and the Finance Minister of Antigua, Dr. Errol Cort let reporters know that the country was very surprised that they had not met the elusive “White List” requirements.
